Dr. Sejal Patel selected for Orlando Magazine's "Memorable Moments" Feature
Dr. Sejal Patel was selected by Orlando Magazine to share a memorable moment in her REI career.
Every day with our help, dreams are conceived. Sometimes for many couples the journey is long; and for others, the journey provides hope. One day, a 22 year old walked into my office with her head in her hands. She looked at me despairingly and said, “I have aggressive cervical cancer, and I have to have a hysterectomy, but I am so sad that I will never have children. I will never be a mother.” We guided her through all of her options from adoption to a gestational carrier with her frozen eggs. She looked up with a small, guarded smile. Following the retrieval of 22 eggs, she left with a promise, she would be back. Five years later and a survivor who beat the odds, she walked into my office and proudly introduced her husband to me. She was ready to be a mother. We thawed her eggs, created embryos and transferred one embryo into her sister who graciously volunteered to be a carrier. Two weeks later, and her sister’s pregnancy test was positive! When we heard the baby’s heartbeat, she looked at me with an incredible sense of life and optimism. This miracle of life is why I love being a part of where dreams are conceived.

#HaveAHeart National Infertility Awareness Week
At The Center for Reproductive Medicine in Orlando, we are showing our support for NIAW with our #HaveAHeart campaign, promoting infertility awareness through social media and at our clinics in Central Florida. This campaign is marked by the color orange (red = love, yellow=happiness), which has represented infertility since ancient times.
During NIAW, don’t be surprised if you see touches of orange throughout our offices and adorned by our staff – a reminder to all of our patients that they have an ongoing support system. For more information on NIAW and to see how you too can become a part of the movement, click here. If you are struggling with infertility and would like to schedule an appointment at one of our clinics, please give us a call today.
Due to inclement weather expected from Hurricane Matthew, our offices will be closing at noon on Thursday and all day Friday.Back to Top
